Physician Survey on Documentation Burdens April 10, 2019 AMA Survey 0 The American Medical Association (AMA) is looking for your help in promoting this survey to your members for response. Health Level Seven International (HL7) is a not-for-profit, ANSI-accredited standards developing organization dedicated to providing a comprehensive framework and related standards for the exchange, integration, sharing, and retrieval of electronic health information that supports clinical practice and the management, delivery and evaluation of health services. The AMA is an organizational member of HL7 and leverages this membership to promote the development and use of technical standards that when adopted are expected to improve the quality and availability of clinical data for physicians. In this work, there are also opportunities to reduce physician documentation burden. The HL7 Da Vinci Project aims to develop content standards in HL7 that help providers and others to positively impact clinical, quality, cost and care management outcomes. The Da Vinci Project is working with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on a survey where the results will be used to help determine the feasibility of one approach to improving compliance with documentation requirements, and reducing the burden associated with physician ordering of durable medical equipment (DME). Given the AMA’s ongoing work to reduce physician burnout through practice transformation, we wanted to make you aware of this opportunity for your members to share their views and influence the development of standards that can reduce physician documentation burden. The survey should only take 5-10min to complete. The survey will only be open until Friday, April 12, in the future we will try and get more lead time.
